In 2018, Blackmagic Design planned to launch a new camera system that would disrupt the market and create a big buzz in the industry. To show the camera’s outstanding specs and features, Directors Duo was asked by Blackmagic Design to shoot a film with one of the earliest prototypes. As Beta testers, Directors Duo was one of only a few selected filmmakers worldwide to be given a prototype. Christopher Schlierf created, produced, directed, shot and edited a film that focused on the target group to create a big hype on social media about the camera. The film and footage were used to support the launch and release of the camera and demonstrated that this particular camera was a game changer for filmmakers, offering state of the art specs at a very affordable price. Christopher Schlierf used brand new technology and creative ways to shoot images not seen before and impossible to shoot with a regular camera previously for example using a monopod as boom in combination with one-hand gimbals while riding a skateboard to shoot epic dynamic boom shots. The image quality of the film was never before possible with such a small camera. With Directors Duo’s cinematography and post production expertise they were able to capture cinematic footage that competed very favourably with high end film production cameras. This gained trust among the filmmaking audience, professionals and other customers and helped Blackmagic Design tremendously.
